Dallas Toler-Wade started Narcotic Wasteland while he was in between tours with Nile. He started writing music that was a little more similar to things he was doing in a previous band and since then has released two albums, 2014’s self-titled and 2017’s “Delirium Tremens” with their third record due out in 2023.
Dallas Toler-Wade was a long-standing 18-year member of the brilliantly Egyptian-themed metal band, Nile, where he composed the music for hit songs such as, “Execration Text”, “Permitting the Noble Dead to Descend to the Underworld”, and “Lashed to the Slave Stick”. Toler-Wade was also featured in Guitar World magazine alongside founding member and guitarist/vox/songwriter Karl Sanders.
Inspired mostly by thrash metal and classic heavy metal, Narcotic Wasteland is becoming more thrash and speed and less death metal and getting better at writing material that is meaningful and powerful. They are recommended for fans of Vader, The Crown, and Nile.
About:
Narcotic Wasteland started as a side project Dallas Toler-Wade had been working on the past few years when he was not touring or in the writing/studio with metal heavyweights "Nile."
‘So I just started writing some songs, kind of more in the style of things I was playing before my time in Nile. The more we started working on these demos, the more we wanted to complete an album and take it to the stage!!! Our observation of what was going on in parts of the town we grew up in and in other parts of the world fueled a new level of angst for me personally.”
Write up courtesy of: ASHER MEDIA RELATIONS
RELEASES NEW SINGLE
'BRIGHT LIGHTS'

Manchester-based artist Heart Of Gold has released their newest single and video, “Bright Lights”. With transitional themes of dwelling on the past, heartbreak, longing, and acceptance, vocalist Michael McGough reaches for the hand of those who are attempting to navigate their own story’s plot twists. Notes of reminiscing accompany this piece’s overwhelming feeling of moving on and by the end, the idea of starting over doesn’t seem so hard to stomach.
“ Bright Lights is a conversation I have with myself about holding on to the reminder of what’s to come ,” McGough says on the new track. “ Whether it’s leaving a relationship or losing someone yet allowing myself time to grieve while simultaneously focusing on moving forward. Lyrically it demonstrates that despite growing and moving on, you’re still hit with flashes from the past, but you use it to ready yourself for better things .”

Watch the video for ' Bright Lights' below:

Peppering subtle philosophical insights, midnight ponderings, and fond memories alongside layers of dreamy synths and smooth saxophone, Heart of Gold’s Michael McGough is bringing a refreshing personal spin to pop music.

As many a listener can attest, it’s no secret that the genre in which Heart of Gold resides has always embraced tales of love and heartbreak. Yet, while these themes are indeed tastefully sprinkled throughout McGough’s latest work, his debut record is less about finding “the one,” and more about finding oneself in the swirling ups and downs of life’s winding roads.

It may seem odd at first to call this a coming-of-age story for an artist who’s seen outpourings of success both on his own as well as with popular post-hardcore group, Being As An Ocean. However, this new era is a rebirth of sorts for the singer-songwriter.

Serving as an aural time capsule for stories new and old, this is a testament to McGough’s lived experiences, drawing inspiration from a set of notebooks spanning the past ten years, and memories that date back even further to his childhood in a small English village.

But time was not the only plane Heart of Gold traversed in the creative process. Traveling to tap the talents of friend, producer, and studio owner, Phil Gornell, McGough routinely left his San Diego home around sunrise and made the five-to-six-hour drive to a small studio not too far from Burbank, Los Angeles. After several weeks, and with vocals and guitar completed, he and the music made their way back to Gronell’s iconic Steel City Studios in Sheffield. It was here in England that drums and percussion were tracked, engineered, and sent to Gornell in LA before circling back to Manchester for mastering. Distance was even bridged virtually as the team collaborated with Black Peaks’ Will Gardner over Zoom to add an extra dash of glittering artistry and the bright brassy flair of a saxophone solo or two.
McGough’s constant commute and the resulting miles of worldly reflection are reminders to appreciate all the highs, lows, excitement, and adventure life throws one’s way. The metaphor has infused itself deep into the very bones of “Bright Lights”, and the new track whisks listeners away to a nostalgic sunset trip down memory lane, immersed in vibrant melodies as soft neon lights glow in the rear view. An exploration of self, nestled within the verses and foot-tapping beats of pop music. Heart of Gold in a nutshell.

The parthenopean melodic death metal Jumpscare, in collaboration with the Duchy of Il Bardo, have released the video visualizer of Earth Decay, a track extracted from the album 'Don't Close Your Eyes', directed by Luigi Cervellini (LB Studio) and produced by the band itself. The video visualizer aims to raise awareness of the harms of pollution and climate change.
"We decided to make a video to raise awareness on climate change since Earth Decay (the song chosen as the" soundtrack "of this video), a song that denounces the opulence and greed of those who exploit the environment, animals and men "- explains Graziano. "Climate change changes the equilibrium of the earth's temperature and has strong repercussions on man and the environment; the earth's temperature is modified due to the greater concentration of greenhouse gases which have a heavy impact on the entire ecosystem. A serious problem that should become a priority, and instead too often underestimated, when not ridiculed, and not treated with due attention. A real problem that should be of absolute priority, given that we risk facing disastrous consequences both for our planet and for our health".
The decision of the Band and the intentional micronation to publish the video in February is not a random decision: in fact, this date marks the foundation of the "Bardo" and with it, the concrete action of both parties to raise public awareness of global warming. The Bard has always fought against pollution and against any form of exploitation of nature: a better world is possible only if we realize how important our daily actions, however small, are, for better or for worse ".
The synergy between the parthenopean band and the intentional micronation of the 'Bardo' is not new; several times the collaborations between Duke Piercarlo Bormida and Graziano Ciccarelli (founder and drummer of Jumpscare), together with the whole band, have given life to synergies of various kinds, starting from 2016 with the production of the single/intro 'Chthonic Dreams' to continue with the remix 'Dead Bodies' always by the Piedmontese producer and composer.
The album 'Don't Close Your Eyes' was produced at Sonitus Studio by Tommaso Monticelli (Genus Ordinis Dei) and was released via Vault Lab (digital & jewel case version) and the Reborn Through Tape Records label (limited edition to 100 copies in cassette format) alongside important names such as Kreator, Sacred Reich, Bulldozer, Raw Power, Discharge and many others.
Hilltops Are For Dreamers will be releasing their debut album "In Disbelief" via Rockshots Records on March 25th. The album itself is a world of extremes and vastly different from the band’s musical past. It blends influences from post-hardcore with acoustic blues melodies, progressive structuring, heavy riffing, a dash of black metal along with exploring electronic and cinematic paths. The record is meant to be a journey from a gloomy emotional state to a possible healing point through the process of realization. It is divided into three parts, Shadows, which is the dark unfolding of the path, Overturn, where the growing consciousness leads to the hope of a better self, and Awakening, which depicts a moment of revival and prospective remedy. For the album's mixing and mastering, they teamed up once again with Steve Lado at SL Studios.
"In Disbelief has a loose concept and it’s not a storytelling album from the point of having a main character or hero. However, each of the songs has a lyrical and musical theme that matches with the part where it belongs to." adds band founder Vasilis Papageorgakopoulos (Guitars / Bass / Keys / Programming).
Today, the band presents their first single "Revival", a personal favourite of Vasilis' as he explains further:
"In my opinion, it is a very open-minded song. It’s a mix of all my influences, starting from electronic and jazz music (the acoustic parts remind me of ‘Thrice’ jazz moments) and moving to extreme metal respectively. This is why the song is accompanied by an animated music video. Lyrically, this is about realization, where you understand all these messages from the past, your nightmares, and the signs. You might have ignored them and taken some risks, but you understand now. It’s never too late."
About:
Hilltops Are For Dreamers (HAFD) is an ambitious project that took shape and form in London around 2018 by Vasilis Papageorgakopoulos. However, they pride themselves in being a multinational band, specifically, UK and Greece-based. The band was born through the ashes of the five-piece Greek metalcore act ‘From Zero To Hero, (FO2H)’ that was disbanded in 2012 immediately after the release of their debut album and Dionysus Maratos (ex-FO2H, Celene) was the only one who joined HAFD in their first steps.
Since 2018, the band has managed to self-release their first ‘self-titled’ EP (January 2020) in digital format, receiving a number of positive reviews, including Metal Hammer, Greece (07/10). Mainly focused on a post-hardcore direction, the EP has successfully blended early ‘00s metalcore elements with blues licks and catchy melodies. One lyric and a unique music video have also been produced to support the achievement.
Additionally, during the first Covid-19 lockdown, they wrote and then released the split digital EP ‘A Transition’ (July 2020) with the fellow band ‘Repent For Joy’, pushing their music a step further. That release was accompanied by a music video for the song ‘The Tide’, featuring Michael Enger, who also does vocals on the debut album, ‘In Disbelief’.
What first began as a studio project by Vasilis Papageorgakopoulos from the unfulfilled musical restlessness of the past has become a strong collaboration of fellow international musicians to create and record.
In the end, everyone's goal remains the same; to create influential music following the vision of a no-boundaries-physical or not-world where people connect with sounds and emotions.
Fun Facts:
The artwork photographs were taken over the years by Vasilis in the UK, he never thought that they could be used to synthesize the album inner booklet, but now they are. They challenge fans to find out where some of the pics are from, especially the one in the ‘Awakening’ part of the booklet.
Some of the lyrics were written/conceptualized by Vasilis while he traveled to work by train before the Covid era. Also, some of them are the outcome of just singing while strolling/walking around the streets of London.

(Essen, Germany – January 20, 2022) – When the gates of the world slammed shut in 2020, German metal spearheads CALIBAN focused their energies in the studio. The results were nothing short of prolific: at first, Zeitgeister, a collection of classic CALIBAN songs re-done in their native German, but more importantly, a brand-new album, Dystopia.

The band have also just released their new track “Ascent Of The Blessed”, which is available on all DSPs now. Additionally, the music video, which was directed by Daniel Prieß, can be seen below:

CALIBAN vocalist Andreas Dörner states about “Ascent Of The Blessed”, “This song is inspired by my imagination of a near-death-experience and the question about my life. It’s about the question if one is a good or an evil person.”

The approach to Dystopia was instinctive and organic. The result was simply darker and heavier. A state of the world address and a sign of these locked-down times. The band members worked in relative isolation, not being able to meet up for writing sessions. Ideas were passed around via the internet. Yet, the anxiety and angst they were all feeling came through. Hence the opening line of the album title track and war-cry: “Welcome Dystopia – Come show me who you are!” Amidst the anger and sonic wreckage, there’s still a ghost of hopefulness as the band searches for identity, solidarity and ultimately rising from dystopian ashes. A long running fixture in the European metal scene, CALIBAN have reemerged with a furious vision for these dark days. Welcome Dystopia.
Dystopia was produced by Benjamin Richter (Moonspell, Emil Bulls) and guitarist Marc Görtz, as well as co-produced by Callan Orr (Dream On, Dreamer).

The eye-catching artwork was crafted by the creative team of Season Zero, who designed the artwork for Zeitgeister.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with 'UNUS', the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s 'Advent of the Human God'. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; 'UNUS' is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob "The Witch" in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

'UNUS' is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.
Ohio’s Turbo Lovers has already amassed a respectable discography since the early 2000s, including six LPs and placements on several compilations. They have recently released “Lettin’ It Fly!” and have a video single “Reasons That We Rhyme” to entice fans.
Turbo Lovers plays the kind of music they want to see live, and this new album is the next phase of their love affair with rock n’ roll. It’s become second nature and essential for them to keep writing and performing and they attribute that drive to the long-term success of the band. They are extremely proud of this latest release and feel they have stepped up their game compared to past albums. They explain the track:
“If there’s a paint-by-numbers Turbo Lovers track, this is probably it. An AC/DC-influenced rocker that’s lyrically about falling for the wrong person, realizing it, and then trying to break away. AC/DC is the band that inspired me to pick up a guitar in the first place, so naturally, a lot of what we do is rooted in their style.”
Looking forward to getting back on stage and bringing the party to their fans, Turbo Lovers wrote this album with the live show in mind. Fun and engaging, they don’t take themselves too seriously, but still exude a high level of professionalism and musicianship on stage.
Turbo Lovers began as a recording side project back in 2003 for guitarist/singer B.J. Lisko. The band as a live entity began in 2006. Turbo Lovers was started because of Lisko’s love for arena rock and 80s rock, along with filling a regional need for a band of that style in Northeast Ohio. Turbo Lovers remains the only straight-up, original rock band from the Youngstown area.
Turbo Lovers is a fist-pumping, foot-to-the-floor, memorable and inspiring rock ‘n’ roll experience recommended for fans of AC/DC, Kiss, and Danko Jones.
“Reasons That We Rhyme” is available on YouTube
“Lettin’ It Fly!” was released on February 4, 2022 and is available for download at Turbolovers.bandcamp.com, Apple Music, and Spotify.
About:
Turbo Lovers is a rock ’n’ roll power trio from Youngstown, Ohio that’s equal parts bravado, swagger and fun. Often chastised for taking their name from what some consider the worst Judas Priest album in history, the band’s sound is more akin to AC/DC, The Wildhearts, and Kiss than the New Wave of British Heavy Metal Gods. But yeah, there’s a little Priest in ‘em, too.
“Lettin’ It Fly” is the band’s new 9-track album, and it’s straight-up, infectious, and unpretentious rock.
“We’re sort of like AC/DC and Danko Jones in that with each album we’ll have a few surprises here and there, but it’s reliable working-class rock ’n’ roll,” said guitarist/singer B.J. Lisko. “It’s all about hooks and solid songs, and we feel like we’ve got plenty of those on the new album.”
The band’s steady stream of support shows opening for the likes of Warrant, Kix, Loverboy, Sebastian Bach, Slaughter, Reverend Horton Heat, Blaze Bayley, and Stephen Pearcy, among others, has netted it a solid fan base, and the racket made by three Ohio rock lifers has turned quite a few heads, as well.
The band originally started as a recording project for Lisko before morphing into somewhat of a revolving door of drummers and bass players. Bassist Keith Dougherty and drummer Christian DeSantis joined the band in late 2011 and have been in tow ever since.
“Turbo Lovers didn’t really become Turbo Lovers, officially, until these guys joined,” Lisko said. “It’s a cohesive unit now, and I couldn’t imagine doing this with anybody else.”
“These never-say-die soldiers are the sole sleazers in their luckless mid-US town, yet they make a genre-hopping trucker metal juggernaut that easily straddles The Supersuckers and Y&T in the same goddamn song. – Classic Rock Magazine
“The pride of Youngstown, Ohio. Their headbanging take on AC/DC, shit-kicker country and 80s metal is low-brow and rabble rousing. – Classic Rock Magazine
“Aging rock ‘n’ roll lifers from the guts of Ohio use their arena rock illusions to create an impressively overblown collection of balls-out chug, sort of like Guns N’ Roses with male pattern baldness, bills to pay, and a flabby with that won’t stop bitchin’ at them. Desperation rock lives. Here’s the proof. – Classic Rock Magazine
“Turbo Lovers are, officially, from the worst town in America: Youngstown, Ohio, known far and wide for its off-the-charts unemployment and high school dropout rates, to say nothing of the subsequent crime sprees such circumstances foster. Naturally, they sound like a trailer park Judas Priest robbing a gas station.” – Classic Rock Magazine
“Youngstown’s Turbo Lovers shake rock ‘n’ roll to its very foundation and deliver it in its most basic and timeless form. – Cleveland Free Times
“Fun rock that is light-hearted and unpretentious. Oozing bravado, you can’t help but enjoy the music from this extremely likeable trio.”– Powerplay Magazine

DARK FUNERAL LAUNCHES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO
FOR “NIGHTFALL”
(Stockholm, Sweden – February 8, 2022) - Swedish black metal masters DARK FUNERAL release the second single, “Nightfall”, from their highly anticipated seventh album We Are The Apocalypse, which will be released on March 18th, 2022 via Century Media Records. While the first single "Let The Devil In" was an introvert journey, contemplating the darkness within, "Nightfall" is the diametral opposite. "Nightfall" is a display of blistering fury, invoking the seven witches, Lamashtu, to bring forth the eternal night. Watch the video, filmed, directed and edited by Grupa13, below.

“With ‘Nightfall’, we continue to push the boundaries and go faster than anything we have ever done before. I wanted to create the feeling of levitating above the soundscape and into my own dark and twisted world. At this speed, it was also a challenge to find a good balance and dynamic where melodies and atmosphere did not disappear in a noise, but I think we really nailed it! Nightfall gives epic a whole new meaning. Enjoy,” Lord Ahriman states about the track.
Heljarmadr adds, “Sometimes I am quite glad that I am not a drummer. I think Jalomaah outdid himself here and it was like standing in a wind tunnel when we recorded it in the studio. But through all the high tempo hammering shines great detail and I think this song has a lot of dynamics. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing the crowd chant "Nightfall" the day we bring it to the stage.”
On March 18th, DARK FUNERAL will release their long-awaited seventh full-length album We Are The Apocalypse(@centurymediarecords / Sony Music Sweden). On the same day, the band invites all fans to the Sound Pollution Store in Stockholm for a signing session and meet and greet. The following day, March 19th, they will be in Gothenburg and Bengan's Record Store to do the same.

Pitch Black Records announces the return of Greek Epic/Doom metal veterans REFLECTION, five years after the band’s last epic full-length “Bleed Babylon Bleed”, with the release of a brand-new track.

“March of the Argonauts” sets the standard for the band’s upcoming new album (to be released later this year) that re-enacts the massive epic metal feeling that has always been characteristic of the band’s sound and more specifically in this case, 2003’s “Odyssey” album. The roaring vocals, the melodic guitars, the sophisticated bass and the galloping drums, all pour together into a sonic vessel of a force to be reckoned with.

The song’s lyrics pay tribute to one of the most famous adventures of Greek mythology, the quest of Jason and the Argonauts for the Golden Fleece. Stathis Pavlantis, founder and guitarist of REFLECTION comments: “The naval exploration of the world beyond the Ancient Greek domain, against all odds and challenges, is linked with our intention to continue to explore the realms of epic heavy metal, against the entropy of time. Our passion for metal never dies!”

“March of the Argonauts” was recorded at Dark Water Audio, Athens, Greece in a very natural setting and it’s worth mentioning that during the recordings, no drum triggers or samples were used, no guitar re-amping or voice autotune and copy/paste. As a band destined to play on stage, REFLECTION wanted to be true to their fellowship and perform as authentic as possible.
The new REFLECTION song has just been exclusively premiered at the popular NWOTHM Full Metal Albums YouTube channel and is already available for streaming or purchase on Bandcamp and all other digital stores worldwide.

Progressive, avant-garde black metal experimentalists DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT have never stopped smashing through the boundaries of the genre they’ve called home since forming in early 2009. And with 2021 welcoming the release of fifth album, Noktvrn, the Germans are looking to expand the minds and perspectives of their ever-increasing fanbase, similar to how they pushed themselves in every element of the new album’s creation. Ironically, supporters being able to pay witness to the leaps and bounds the band has made over the course of 12 years, five albums and one EP and live recordings should count themselves lucky for being able to do so.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT may have existed and thrived over the course of that time, but forging on beyond its self-titled debut wasn’t part of guitarist/vocalist/mastermind Nikita Kamprad’s original plan.

Formed out of the ashes of black metal quartet FROSTGRIM and good time-lovin’ melodic deathcore posse, FUCK YOUR SHADOW FROM BEHIND, Kamprad and original vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky founded DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT as an expression of both their love of black metal and the search for liberation through art, as evidenced by taking the idea of their moniker — which translates to ‘The Way of Freedom’ — to heart.

“FROSTGRIM could be seen as the direct predecessor to DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT ,” says Kamprad, from his studio in Würzburg, in the state of Bavaria, “because it was Tobias, our former singer, and I. We had this black metal band together when we also had FUCK YOUR SHADOW FROM BEHIND. We were a part of both bands and when they split up, there was nothing left. For me, black metal was always the most important musical genre where I could see myself doing music. So, I created songs for myself and basically they became the first DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT album. It is officially self-titled, but it actually doesn’t have a title. It’s just Der Weg einer Freiheit because initially after I wrote and released that first album, the band was supposed to be over. But the feedback from friends, fans and the press was so immense and so many people wanted to see the band live and to see it continue, in the end, I was like ‘why not?’ There was no reason why I couldn’t go on with new stuff.”

Originally self-released, the debut was picked up by Viva Hate Records who then issued follow-ups in the form of the Agonie EP and second full-length, Unstille which were supported via appearances at name festivals such as Summer Breeze Open Air and Wolfszeit Festival as well as on European tours opening for the likes of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, NEAERA. 2014 had DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT joining forces with Season of Mist for third album, Stellar which was issued a few months later in March of 2015.

With the label and a groundswell of support behind them, the band’s star continued to rise in Stellar’s shadow with showings at Wacken Open Air, Hellfest and Roadburn, a tour in support of MOONSPELL and their first headlining runs. 2017 saw the release of album number four, Finisterre, which continued the steady growth of the band’s profile. In addition to drawing bigger crowds at festivals and on tours, they ventured overseas for the first time, playing in Japan and Iceland.

“I was doing music for six or seven years when I started DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT and I was always in bands that would meet up and write in a rehearsal space, but I always wanted to have my own band. I had the opportunity to do my own thing and that’s why this band is called DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT because it’s basically about my way of achieving my own freedom. For some people that way is through sport or cooking or writing; for me, it was about writing music and lyrics.”

Twelve years on, Kamprad is taking advantage of the freedoms afforded to him as he strives to personify the band’s titular expression. Being joined by drummer Tobias Schuler, bassist Nicolas Ziska and guitarist Nicolas Rausch has made DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT more a unit than ever and allowed Kamprad to feel comfortable relinquishing his steely grip on the band’s creative reins during the writing process which began in late 2019 and was completed by September of 2020. This has allowed for vast differences in Noktvrn’s creation that have expanded the album’s overall breadth beyond black metal and extreme music to incorporate the influence and inspiration of classical composer Frédéric Chopin’s Nocturnes, his series of 21 so-called “night pieces.” This, in turn, birthed the album’s artistic mandate requiring that material only be created during the wee hours.

“I always wanted to do an album about the night and dreams and I’m really, really big fan of Chopin and his night pieces in general. For me, it made sense that this album should have a title that connects with this theme. To the left of me right now is a piano and some of Chopin’s sheet music for the Nocturnes. One day I probably looked at it and wanted to pay tribute to this great composer. That’s why we chose to write the title a little bit differently with the ‘k’ instead of a ‘c’ and a ‘v’ instead of a ‘u’ to make it more special. We also chose the ‘v’ in particular because it’s our fifth album and that’s the Roman numeral for five. It’s just something special we did with the name, even though we weren’t sure at first about the lettering because it can be seen as generic, especially in black metal. We have reasons that are deeper than what you see on the surface; not because we want to be ‘true’ — or ‘trve’ — or something,” he explains with a laugh.

The Chopin and classical music influences on Noktvrn are much more than surface cosmetics. Lilting acoustic guitar piece ‘Finisterre II’ opens the album. Jericho-like horns are the bleating accent to the proggy black metal of ‘Monument.’ Baroque arpeggiation familiar to the tuxedo-and-coat tails crowd are spiralled around Oslo’s Helvete shop in ‘Morgen.’ There are also tendrils of folk, shoegaze and indie rock that make brief and appropriate appearances, but it’s the night-time theme that runs deep as Kamprad discovered early on in the writing process.

“‘Immortal’ was one of the first songs I wrote for the album and it was really, really weird because I wrote the song when it was very, very late when I fell into a night-time rhythm that was not my usual rhythm. Here, I felt I was having different kinds of dreams and thoughts. Sometimes I’d be half-awake, half-asleep and not really aware of what my real state of mind was. That was an experience that made me think about giving the entire album the nocturnal or night theme. I’m a very passionate sleeper; I love sleeping and dreaming and dreams are important to me because there’s a freedom in them. In this night rhythm, my head was in a different state and I wanted to create in this state because it was something different for me.”

Lyrically, Noktvrn has Kamprad taking enormous steps outside what has become his regular modus operandi since he took over the mic following Jaschinsky’s departure in 2012. The new album has him expanding his reach beyond not only his usual collection of personal thoughts and mother tongue, but also the style and texture with which he would previously deliver his meanings, ideas, and recollections.

“Usually, the lyrics have mainly been about myself, but on this album there were two events in the last two or three years connected to anxiety attacks. I haven’t experienced them myself, but a couple people who are very close to me have. The lyrics for the song ‘Am Rande der Dunkelheit’ are based around these people’s experiences and them telling me how they felt in a situation where they think they can’t breathe, that they think they’re dying and their life is coming to an end. I tried to imagine through the lyrics how they might have felt. I was trying to find my own words to describe the experience while trying to describe it if I had lived it myself.

“Another completely new thing on this album are the songs ‘Immortal’ and ‘Haven’ which are in English, which we’ve never done before. I always wanted to sing in English ever since I took over the vocals. Singing is the most direct musical expression I feel. Playing guitar is cool, but singing is even more my thing and I always want to push the boundaries so I implemented clean singing as well but, for me, doing clean vocals is very uncomfortable and difficult in German. I think singing clean vocals in English sounds nicer because German is a hard language which fits the harsh vocals perfectly. I wanted to try it out to see how it felt, and surprise, surprise, it felt great! I really like it and imagine there will be more English lyrics in the future.”

Barring a pair of live albums, all previous DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT releases were created almost entirely from the ground up by Kamprad. He would write the songs on his own and do the bass, guitar and vocal tracks himself with Schuler playing drums while engineering, producing and mixing along the way. Kamprad may still be the songwriter-in-chief who produced and mixed Noktvrn (with assistance from Jan Kerscher), but this album makes a significant developmental step as it not only welcomes song writing contributions from the other members, but has the band ably demonstrating their ability by recording live off the floor.

“The new album is the most natural sounding DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT album,” he says excitedly, “not only the sound, but the riffing and because we recorded the songs live. Music today, especially metal, can be too difficult and technical for bands to even play and record their own songs from start to finish. For me it was very important during the song writing to focus on playing the songs all the way through without stopping. That created a very natural flow through the songs and throughout the whole album. Also, it was a new thing that the whole band was involved in the whole recording process and the last stages of the song writing. Writing and recording mainly by myself was a very exhausting and streamlined process that I liked at some points, but after Finisterre I couldn’t do that anymore and had to change something.

“I still wrote the songs here in my studio then showed them to the others,” he explains. “Then, we met up for rehearsal and pre-production and played through the songs, recorded them and really analysed all the small details, the iteration of parts, the transitions, the guitar sound, the drum beats and everything, even the cymbal hits! What came out were still my songs, but with all kinds of input from the guys. They’re the same songs, but going over all the details brings them to another level. When we entered the studio all we had to do was focus on playing and nothing else because everything was settled already. That was a new and very good experience for us as a band.”

All of the above makes Noktvrn a beacon of musical forward thought, drastic jumps and transformative risks. In his soft-spoken humble manner, Kamprad laughs at the idea that DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT is little more than a personal expression vehicle; instead, he refers to the band as “a very professional hobby,” while downplaying what makes these black metal mavericks entirely special.

“Maybe what is the special thing about us is that we never stopped. Since the beginning, we haven’t taken a break and we’ve always tried to be present with tours and shows and festivals, so there was never a break.”
POLICE THE POLICE is a brutal four song battering of angry filthy crust. Lyrical topics such as police reformation, political dissidence, and anarchism sit alongside barked vocals, rusty guitars, and subterranean bass. The EP is the first new music front man Weeks has written since becoming ill in December rendering his voice unusable.
"It was a crappy six weeks, but my voice is back and I'm ready to growl, shout, howl, and bark about all the terrible nazi shit happening in the world right now" Weeks opines from his home base in South London. "I've also got new CRONENBERG underway, and a new grind project called JAMIE LEE CURTIS. Later in the year you'll also get a new OLIVIA NEUTERED JOHN EP, so brace for a practically endless stream of ugly music!"
POLICE THE POLICE track listing:

ANGEL NATION, the melodic metal band founded by the classically trained Finnish singer Elina Siirala (also in Leaves' Eyes) just released a music video for "Seraph", the first single from their new album "Antares".

"Antares" will be released on CD and digital on April 8th and on limited vinyl on June 3rd via Inner Wound Recordings.

Elina Siirala of ANGEL NATION comments on the single:

"'Seraph' is the manifestation of all the willpower and determination we've had to show as a band and as individuals during the past two years. Lockdowns, no concerts, no normal life... it's easy to forget who you are and slowly sink into the darkness. But the power of the music will always bring us back to the surface and at the end 'from the light, reborn I will rise like Seraph'."

The greatly anticipated third album takes Angel Nation to a new level! Named after the star "Antares", the brightest object in the constellation of Scorpius, it takes the listener on a journey of multiple elements, through an album full of energy and fire with the true sound of a metal band! "Antares" is combining catchy melodies, stadium rock and powerful metal tunes together with a flavor of modern synths, while maintaining depth, both musically and lyrically.

Inspired by a concept of an army of angels (Seraphim), the often cryptic texts intertwine with true-life stories, leaving room for the listener's own interpretation.

The album is mixed and mastered by Alexander Krull (Leaves' Eyes, Atrocity) and the artwork was created by Jobert Mello (Sabaton, Primal Fear).

Get ready for it all: Heavy, rocking and epic tunes from this highly anticipated album with tons of character!

“The World has changed. I see it in the Water. I feel it in the Earth. I smell it in the Air.”
– J.R.R. Tolkien
Four years have passed since the release of our latest album “The Legacy of Atlantis”, a concept album and a metal opera about Atlantis – the ancient advanced civilization, and Magic – the legacy of that civilization.
Since then many things have changed in ourselves and in the world around us, and this is also reflected in the new music.
While built upon the foundation of its predecessor musically and lyrically, “New World” is faster, heavier and focuses on such concepts as Development, Evolution, Path (Dao), Freedom, Exploration and Knowledge. If “Legacy of Atlantis” was element Water, “New World” is element Air.
The cover art is once again symbolic (using the same language as the symbols in Tarot decks), and contains a cipher which closely follows the lyrics. Can you de-cipher it?
Despite being faster and heavier than the previous album, “New World” retains all the signature features of Imperial Age symphonic metal style: punchy guitars & drums, symphonic orchestra (this is the first time we actually recorded live orchestral instruments on all songs), symphonic choir, anthem-style choruses and 3 different lead singers: Aor, Jane and Kiara.
The album contains 7 regular tracks and one enormous 18-minute-long metal symphony called “Call of the Towers” that is stylistically a bit different from the other songs – darker, a bit tragic but at the same time elevated and spiritual, sometimes a bit resembling “Turn the Sun Off!”. It even has a 3-minute-long church organ solo.
Tracklist:
1. Windborn [03:40]
2. Legend of the Free [04:17]
3. The Way is the Aim [04:01]
4. Shackles of Gold [04:02]
5. The Wheel [04:14]
6. To the Edge of the Known [03:40]
7. Distant Shores [04:44]
8. Call of the Towers [18:12]
Total play time: 46 minutes 48 seconds
The album will be released worldwide on 05th August 2022, in the following formats: Digital, CD, Digipack, Double-CD Earbook and Vinyl.
4 singles will be released ahead of the album in Digital and CD formats, accompanied by 5 music videos and 8 live videos from the “Live New World” online concert with choir and orchestra.
The ‘New World’ album & music videos have been 100% crowdfunded by our fans during the campaign of July-August 2021. All Crowdfunder Bundles will be shipped and emailed by 05 July 2022. All singles will also be emailed in digital format to all Crowdfunders two weeks before their respective release dates.
Pre-order for everyone else will open soon, so stay tuned!
NEW ALBUM SYNCHRO ANARCHY OUT NOW!
(Montreal, Canada – February 11, 2022) – Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD release their newest studio album Synchro Anarchy today worldwide via Century Media Records.

To celebrate the release of Synchro Anarchy, the band have released a new video clip created by Felipe Belalcazar / Mental Pictures for the track “Sleeves Off”.

VOIVOD vocalist and lyricist Denis “Snake” Bélanger states about the track/video, “Here’s a cool clip from our friend Felipe Belalcazar. It’s a mixture of animation and live footage. The animation in the clip goes backwards, maybe in reference about the past when I had to make big decisions, as a teenager. Some were good, some were bad, but one thing for sure, I didn’t want to be cast in a mold to fit perfectly in the conformity of the world. I wanted to be me, show everyone who I was, do things on my own, and be creative. And when I met the boys, I found the place where I wanted to be. The live footage shows that I was right, as we are still going after so long. Enjoy!“

Bélanger adds about today’s release of Synchro Anarchy , “Here it is folks. So proud to present this album to you. It is one of a kind, a very unique and distinctive album. It was made with all the passion we have for music under particular conditions. Driven by a nuclear brainstorm between the 4 of us in a state of emergency. Written, recorded, and delivered, and not necessarily in that order, we managed to do it all in a few months. We hope you will enjoy the album. We can’t wait to see you all of you, our fans out there on our upcoming tours. We’ve been missing you!”

RESENTMENT IS ALWAYS SEISMIC –
A FINAL THROW OF THROES MINI-ALBUM OUT NOW
BAND ANNOUNCES MORE TOUR DATES!
(New York, NY – February 11, 2022) –UK grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH release their new mini-album Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes today via Century Media Records. To celebrate the release of the mini-album, the band have released a visualizer video created by Chariot Of Black Moth for the record’s experimental final track “Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Dirge)”. Watch the video, HERE.

“Narcissus”, the furious opening track of the Mini-Album, can be viewed, HERE.

Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes is a partner recording to NAPALM DEATH’s latest, much acclaimed Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism album from 2020, concluding matters through vital, tumultuous grindcore and shockwave ambience.
“You can certainly consider “Resentment Is Always...” as an extension of - or partner recording to - the “Throes…” album. We had long since wanted to put a mini-album out – in the spirit of the old days – and found we had enough quality tracks even after all the “Throes...” bonus tracks to do that. Hopefully this mini holds some nice twists in its own right for people, and certainly covering “People Pie” by Slab! made us really stretch ourselves, which feels great artistically. In the end, resentment is certainly seismic – it can trigger the complete erosion of humanity in many situations. That was the point that I really wanted to hammer home overall,” states NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark “Barney” Greenway.
The 8-track mini-album Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes is available as ltd. CD digipak, vinyl as well as in a digital album format. See below for the album’s tracklisting.
Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes Mini-Album (29:33) tracklisting:
1. Narcissus (03:10)
2. Resentment Always Simmers (04:16)
3. By Proxy (02:22)
4. People Pie (04:24) [SLAB! cover]
5. Man Bites Dogged (04:24)
6. Slaver Through a Repeat Performance (03:47)
7. Don't Need It (01:05) [Bad Brains cover]
8. Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Dirge) (05:59)
The mini album’s vinyl edition comes as 12” (at 33 ⅓ RPM) on 180g vinyl and in the following variants/limitations:
ABRASIVE was founded by Ralf Köhler (git./vocals), Alex Ringwald (bass/screams), and Alex Mäckle (drums) in April 1999! They combined the old-school-styled Death Metal sound with a piece of Grindcore and US brutal Death Metal a la SUFFOCATION or SEVERE TORTURE. The result was a grooving bastard of aggression and brutality with the typical ABRASIVE guitar lines. Ralf’s typical Death Metal growls and guttural style vocals, which are completed by the relentless screams of Alex became a trademark of the band.
After several releases via NICE TO EAT YOU Records or MDD Records and countless shows and festivals (Soul Grinding, Mountains of Death, NRW Deathfest, Flesh Party Open Air, Exhume The Metal Festival) inside and outside Germany to spread the name of the band out to the world, 800 sold copies of “Desire” MCD (2001) and 1000 sold copies of each “Devotion” (2004) and “Awakening Of Lust” (2007), ABRASIVE would establish themselves as a well-known band within the underground scene. The following releases “The Birth – Born In Sodom” (2011/MDD Rec.) and “Book Of Sin” (2017/RTM Prod.) confirm their status.
The new CD “Edge Of Darkness” shows the most varied songs the band have ever written. The new tracks are darker and more intense than ever before.
